On March 5, 2022, at 23:32 hours, the LaGrange Fire District responded to reports of a house fire on Lakeview Drive in the Town of LaGrange. At 23:36 hours Incident Command, based on multiple reports of an active fire with possible entrapment, requested a second alarm, pulling in resources and personnel from the mutual aid departments of Arlington, Pleasant Valley and Mobil Life Ambulance to the scene.
At 23:43 first arriving units reported heavy fire and confirmed reports of an unaccounted resident and family dog. Initially, crews began an aggressive attack and attempted to enter the residence to locate and rescue the reported missing occupant. At 23:53 hours Incident Command reported the structure was fully involved, committing all fire personnel to exterior suppression operations. Two large propane tanks in the rear of the house were also exposed to the fire and damaged. At 23:54 a third alarm was requested, bringing in additional tanker resources from New Hackensack, East Fishkill, Hughsonville, and Pleasant Valley. Water operations included shuttling water from a hydrant by Golds Gym on Titusville Rd. The fire was brought under control by 00:53 hours. With the fire under control crews resumed searching for the missing occupant and dog, locating them in a bedroom of the residence.
Pleasant Valley, East Fishkill and Union Vale fire districts provided standby coverage at LaGrange Fire Stations 1 & 2 to cover the remainder of the Lagrange Fire District.
In addition to the fire districts that provided mutual aid, the LaGrange Fire District would like to thank the State Police, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Officers, Central Hudson Gas and Electric, Star Gas and the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response Fire Investigation Division for their immediate response and assistance on scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by LaGrange and the Dutchess County Fire Investigation Division. The incident was concluded at 05:46 hours on March 6, 2022, leaving the investigation crew on scene until 08:39 to conduct a thorough inquiry into the incident.
