Are you interested in becoming a Career Staff Member of the LaGrange Fire District? If so your journey begins with the Dutchess County Civil Service exam that is offered every four years, or sooner as needed. Please monitor their website and keep a lookout for the “Firefighter Exam announcement”

Before you apply, take note:

• Read the entire announcement — make sure you meet all of the minimum qualifications and requirements.
• The examination application processing fee is non-refundable.
• If the examination processing fee is not paid, then your application will be disapproved.

The LaGrange Fire District is always actively recruiting dedicated, active, and highly skilled volunteer members to enhance the quality of care we can provide to our residents. There are no minimum training requirements to join and we will provide all of the training you need free of charge!! Don’t want to go into burning buildings? That’s fine!! We have a wide variety of member categories to suit whatever you would like to do, we will always welcome an extra set of hands. These include:

• Fire Police: Controlling and directing traffic at large scenes and MVA’s
• EMS: Either driving the ambulance or operating as an NYS Certified Emergency Medical Technician
• Interior Firefighter: Advanced and physically demanding training that certifies you to enter a burning building to rescue trapped occupants or extinguish fire
• Exterior Firefighter: Assists at emergency scenes with various other jobs and forms of fire suppression that do not require entry into the burning structure, but is just as important!!
