LaGrange Man struck by Tree

On March 9, 2026, at 19:08 hours, the LaGrange Fire District was dispatched for a male crushed by a tree on Traver Road in the Town of LaGrange. At 19:15 hours it was confirmed that a male patient was severely injured because of a tree that was being felled in his yard. Initial arriving crew requested additional resources along with the closest medivac unit for rapid transport.
During the incident LaGrange Firefighter Paramedics and Firefighter EMTs provided initial and continued lifesaving care as well as extrication of the patient from the woods. Additional resources were requested for the backfilling of an Ambulance and an ATV from Pleasant Valley Fire District. The ATV was requested to respond directly to the scene to aid in patient movement from the woods to the waiting LaGrange ALS Ambulance.
At approximately 19:38 hours the patient had been receiving continuous Advanced Life Support from the LaGrange Fire District Paramedics and moved from the woods to the ambulance. Approximately twenty minutes after the Medivac launched out of Hackensack, NJ, it landed safely to accept the patient for immediate and rapid transport to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY at 20:20 hours.
Our sincere appreciation and thanks to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, Hackensack Air, Dutchess County Coordinator and the Pleasant Valley Fire District for utilization of their ATV and assistance at the landing zone and backfilling of an ambulance to respond in LaGrange Fire station during the incident. LaGrange Firefighter / Paramedics transferred care to the Medical Evacuation Flight Crew, and the patient was transported to Westchester Medical Center.
Currently the patient is receiving definitive care at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY. Our thoughts are with the patient and family in this time of need and recovery.
