At 3:15 p.m., the LaGrange Fire District was dispatched for an Aircraft Emergency/Plane crash in the area of Gidley Road, between Pond Gut Road and Creekside Lane in the Town of LaGrange, County of Dutchess. Initial reports were a plane crashed, flipped over and the pilot was self-extricating from the wreckage. First arriving responders confirmed one soul aboard, self-extricated uninjured and walked out to meet EMS.
The dispatch for this incident brought in mutual aid departments and agencies from Union Vale F.D, Arlington F.D., Dutchess County Haz-Mat, State Police, Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The pilot was evaluated by EMS and released. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation by the FAA and State Police. The plane was identified as a Cessna 172 Skyhawk with one soul aboard and approximately 200 yards off Gidley road into a light vegetative and swampy area.
