For Immediate Release – Double Fatality, October 15, 2024

On Tuesday October 15, the LaGrange Fire District along with the New York State Police and Beekman Fire District EMS responded to an auto accident on the Taconic State Parkway (TSP), South bound at 1443 hrs.  Initial reports from Dutchess County 911 dispatch reported a possible rollover accident with entrapment with unresponsive driver(s).

Upon the arrival of LaGrange personnel three patents where identified, between two vehicles separated by 200 yards in the Southbound lane of TSP.  During triage and assessment, it was found that two of the victims were critically injured and entrapped within their vehicles.  The LaGrange EMS Paramedics and EMTs on scene affected all lifesaving measures at their disposal to effect positive outcomes for those involved.  While crews worked to remove the victims from each vehicle a request for a medical helicopter was requested but later canceled due to complications.

Despite the efforts of the personnel on scene wo of the critical patients did not survive their injuries.  One victim was declared deceased on scene and the second victim succumbed to their injuries at an area hospital. The third individual was also transported to an area hospital and was discharged.

On behalf of the LaGrange Fire District and all emergency personnel involved, we would like to express our condolences to the family for their loss of their loved one.  We would also like to express our wishes for a speedy recovery to the students, driver and officer involved.
