Incident 12/20/2025
On December 20, 2025, off-duty Firefighter/EMTs Mike Mendez and Jose Andrade demonstrated exceptional dedication and professionalism when they stopped to assist at a serious two-vehicle motor vehicle accident on Manchester Road.
While traveling on Manchester Road, Firefighters Mendez and Andrade encountered the crash, which involved multiple occupants and resulted in severe injuries. The firefighters immediately initiated a rapid assessment of the scene and identified one passenger who was unconscious and without a pulse. Without hesitation, they began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and provided emergency care.
In addition to performing life-saving measures, Firefighters Mendez and Andrade assisted other occupants involved in the crash, providing aid and stabilizing the scene until Arlington Fire District personnel and Empress Emergency Medical Services arrived and assumed patient care.
The LaGrange Fire District commends Firefighters Mendez and Andrade for their swift action, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to public safety. Their willingness to respond in an emergency even while off duty exemplifies the highest standards of the fire service and reflects great credit upon themselves and the LaGrange Fire District.
