Fatal Fire – LaGrange, NY
Press Release
For Immediate Release
Press Release – November 21, 2025
On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 12:32 a.m., the LaGrange Fire District was dispatched to a reported smoke alarm sounding, at 321 Titusville Road. Initial firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke coming from one of the units in the complex. A second alarm was immediately requested to bring in additional resources.
Firefighters performed an aggressive interior attack, pushing a hose line directly up the stairs to the second-floor unit. Upon entry into the second-floor unit, firefighters found the sole occupant and immediately removed the patient to EMS personnel. EMS personnel swiftly brought the patient to the ambulance, immediately initiated Advanced Life Support Care and rapidly transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital. While at the hospital the patient succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Through the swift and coordinated efforts of firefighters brought the fire under control by 12:53 a.m. After knocking down the fire, the crew began checking for extension of fire into the void spaces of the structure and metering the neighboring apartment units. All fire department resources returned to service at 06:01 hours.
Additional occupants and units were assessed and released back to the occupants. Unfortunately, the second-floor unit sustained significant fire damage and the first-floor unit below are uninhabitable at this time. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The LaGrange Fire District extends its gratitude to the mutual aid departments who responded under the 2nd Alarm assignment, City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department, Arlington Fire District, Pleasant Valley Fire Department, and the New Hackensack Fire Department.
We also want to thank the Dutchess County Sheriff Officers, Central Hudson Gas and Electric, the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response Staff and Fire Investigation Division, along with Empress Ambulance for their assistance on scene.
