Dutchess County Municipal Investment Grant Program
Press Release 7/27/22
Immediate Release
On July 22, 2022, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro announced the County has awarded over $4.6 million in funding for 38 projects through the Municipal Investment Grant (MIG) Program.
The LaGrange Fire District was among those awarded funds ($43,395) to upgrade the existing diesel exhaust capture system in our three stations, which will help to reduce the prevalence of cancer-causing carcinogens released into the firehouse from the starting of the apparatus. The existing system is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain and repair due to its age.
Additionally, the Arlington Fire District submitted a joint grant for the Arlington Fire District, City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department and LaGrange Fire District Special Operations Team. The Team was awarded a combined $300,000.00 which will help the three departments maintain and advance skills and equipment for structural collapse, swift water rescues, trench rescues, and high angle rope rescues. This team is not just a resource for these three departments. It is a resource for the entire county and beyond if needed. Most notably, earlier this year the team was deployed and successfully rescued a worker a mile deep into a mine in Wingdale.
The MIG program has traditionally awarded funding on a competitive basis to entities who have a taxing authority, such as cities, towns, villages, fire districts, and water and wastewater public authorities. Priority was given to projects that partnered with other municipalities, and taxing authorities, the development of shared services, or aligning with the County’s priorities and needs, and creating a savings for the taxpayers. The focus areas of this year’s MIG program targeted fire and rescue project that would improve the agencies capacity and/or capabilities to respond to emergencies, and address health and safety concerns.
We would like to thank Marcus Molinaro and the entire Dutchess County Legislature for providing this needed funding and their continued support of the not only the LaGrange Fire District but all the county’s fire service agencies.
