On Saturday, December 27, 2025, off-duty Firefighter/Paramedic Nate Herring-Trott was traveling on Spackenkill Rd in the Town of Poughkeepsie when he observed a motor vehicle accident and immediately stopped to render assistance. Upon arrival, Firefighter Herring-Trott found the male driver involved in the crash unresponsive. He safely removed the driver from the vehicle and quickly determined the individual was suffering from cardiac arrest.

Firefighter Herring-Trott promptly initiated CPR while awaiting the arrival of the Arlington Fire District and Empress EMS. Thanks to his swift assessment and decisive actions, the patient regained a pulse and is expected to have a positive outcome.
