Structure Fire 774 Freedom Plains Road, LaGrange NY

On Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 19:56 hours, the LaGrange Fire District was dispatched to a reported house fire at 774 Freedom Plains Road. Firefighters arrived within three minutes of the initial call and confirmed an active basement fire. A second alarm was immediately requested to bring in additional resources.
Firefighters performed an aggressive interior attack, pushing a hose line directly into the basement while a second line was advanced into the first floor. The swift and coordinated efforts of firefighters brought the fire under control by 20:23 hours. After knocking down the fire, the crews began checking for extension of fire into the numerous void spaces of the structure. All fire department resources returned to service at 23:58 hours.
The residents were evaluated on scene by EMS for smoke inhalation and were released. Unfortunately, the home sustained significant fire damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The LaGrange Fire District extends its gratitude to the mutual aid departments who responded under the 2nd Alarm assignment; City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department, Arlington Fire District, Pleasant Valley Fire Department, Beekman Fire Department, East Fishkill Fire Department, and the New Hackensack Fire Department.
