Press Release
Over the last seventy- hours Dutchess County has experienced severe weather. As a result the LaGrange Fire District, along with other districts responded to numerous auto accidents, wires down, Haz-Mats and downed trees.
At 07:17 hours on the morning of the 27th, LaGrange FD, responded for a reported tree on a house. Upon response, first responders recognized the need to activate the Special Operations Collapse team, comprised of members from the LaGrange, Arlington, and City of Poughkeepsie Fire Districts.
First responders worked tirelessly to mitigate the situation. The tree encompassed the entirety of the home, challenging rescuers in access to the known occupant. Unfortunately, at the time in which first responders made access to the known resident in the structure, the situation moved away from a rescue to recovery. Our sincere condolences to the family of the occupant.
In coordination with LaGrange FD, we would like to express our thanks to Arlington FD, City of Poughkeepsie, Union Vale FD, Roosevelt FD, and the New York State Police.
