Fatal accident on Route 55 – Town of LaGrange

On March 8, 2022, at 15:16 hours, the LaGrange Fire District responded to a fatal head on motor vehicle accident involving a New York State Police SUV and an Arlington Central School District minibus. The accident occurred at the intersection of Route 55 and South Cross Road. Mutual aid was requested and provided by EMSTAR ambulance services, Arlington Fire District, Union Vale Fire District, Wappingers EMS, and Beekman Fire Districts,
The roadway remained closed from the time of the incident until 19:20 hours while a reconstructive investigation was conducted. The investigation remains ongoing, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available through the New York State Police.
Involved in the accident where two adult students who were transported to local hospitals with minor, non-life-threatening injuries for further evaluation. The parents of the students have been notified. An adult aid was pronounced deceased on the scene by LaGrange Fire District Paramedics. The bus driver and the New York State Trooper were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries for further evaluation.
